David John Moore Cornwell was born. He was an agent of the British Secret Intelligent Service and later the author of many spy novels, going by the pen name John le Carré.
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is the title of one of his most famous novels, and is derived from a counting game, traditionally played in England, whose characters are: tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor, rich man, poor man, beggarman, thief.

This rhyme gives us the idea of counting time using the sequence of its characters.
We start by drawing them, using a common base and later adding distinguishable elements.

Thus we design a digital clock on which they appear, minute after minute, for 1440 times a day.
The animation below shows the passing of 1 minute, from 10:11 to 10:12, just to understand how it works.
